chris, i'm stalking you all over last.fm and youtube :) i do have a video of 'soon' but the sound is terrible. i'm hoping against hope someone taped this show and will post it to www.dimeadozen.org. if that happens then i'll mix the video with the audio and release it. otherwise - its just embarrassing.
chris  said
anyone have a decent quality video of the show they can share???
Josh J  said
WTF was up with the opening act? Couldnt wait for it to be over. MBV owned though
Tim S  said
One of the best shows ever and folks still find ways to pick it apart. The fact that people are saying that MBV was too loud makes me think that SF isn't really a rock town....MBV is supposed to be CRUSHINGLY loud and they delivered. I was feeling a bit closed in, so I moved behind the sound guy for the most of the show and thought the sound was perfect. I even heard the vocals clearly enough to sing along to most of the set. As for the venue, I actually preferred it to most of the larger venues....Fillmore included. Bar lines were short and drinks affordable, it was easy to move around, and security/staff were laid back. There was even a short bathroom line if you went to the one closer to the stage furthest from the entrance. On average, I attend about 1-2 shows per week and this was easily one of my favorites.

I vote for three nights at the Great American Music Hall...
Erik S  said
Hate to be the contrarian here, but I thought this was the perfect venue for MBV. The sound, I would imagine, was exactly what they were looking for. The sight-lines sucked, no argument here. But are you really surprised you couldn't hear the vocals at a My Bloody Valentine show!?

And where should they play next time around (fingers crossed there IS a next time around)?
Lanersg  said
Never, ever going to the Concourse again for a show. MBV was awesome, venue sucked.

i enjoyed the airplane hangar ambiance as we were sitting on a rocket for realize. i took out earplugs a few times and i could mostly just hear a high-level white noise. beautiful.
xis O  said
mos def you are nuts (re: earplugs) ;)

I am glad that you (and others) had a good experience. My hope is that they release a new album and tour in support of that. In a venue that doesn't suck.
Charles K  said
or maybe I am nuts
Charles K  said
yes you could not hear the vocals but it was great anyway. I was pretty close to the stage and did not use earplugs so maybe I had a different acoustic experience than others.
xis O  said
I don't mean to be a hater, but am I the only one who was terribly disappointed by this show? I don't blame MBV, but the venue. It had to be, hands down, the worst-sounding show I've been to in 10+ years. I had low expectations and, sadly, they were more than met. Muddy drums and bass that overpowered everything but a searing guitar or two. Melinda was nowhere to be heard and you could hear Kevin maybe every three songs or so. I will never go to the Concourse to see a show. Even if they resurrect John and George for a Beatles reunion tour. F-U, concourse.
Charles K  said
they were fucking awesome
jaime A  said
This show officially confirmed my hatred of the Concourse as a music venue. I had to move around half a dozen times to find decent sound.
chris  said
liiiiiiiisa  said
did anyone have a db meter?
Scotty  said
Not to be redundant, but... yeah, my clothes were moving during the last 10 minutes of the show, due entirely to the wall of sound generated on stage. I'm glad I brought my own earplugs, because the ones provided by the venue were sadly ineffectual.
Brad K  said
Wow. That was face-massagingly loud.
Nicky P  said
If you were not wearing earplugs at this show then I hope you know sign language...
Roman M  said
Mbv, you made my body realize how fragile it is. IT HURTS. honestly, louder than fucking ground zero... and i thought i had my loudest show
chris  said
geez, that was like a ride on apollo 13. absolute loudest 15 minutes ever.
Scotty  said
I haven't been this excited about a show since Depeche Mode and Book of Love in 1985 at the Henry J. Kaiser...
Ash A  said
And by "nicer" I just mean "nicer to the audience." Otherwise, it was perfect!
Ash A  said
I'm hoping it's nicer than ATP - they didn't take the stage 'til 1am on Monday morning!
David M  said
wow, doors at 8, show at 830 and 2 openers on a work night. Oh Live Nation, why you gotta make me hurt the next day? :(
Amy #1  said
kfc- this info came from Live Nation, who are putting on the show. If you click the tickets link, you can see their page.
kfc c  said
Do we know for certain that Spectrum is playing tonight? This is the only place I've heard this ..... Muchos gracias.
chris  said
tickets say "no cameras or recorders" but i'm sure you could sneak one in
Kelliekat  said
Anyone know if cameras are allowed at the Concourse?
Alex C  said
I have an extra ticket if anyone is looking for one...
Roman M  said
guh, looks like i'll be a loner, since all my friends are too tight-ass for mbv. someone please keep me company.
supereric  said
I've had these tickets, for, like, months. I'm setting iTunes to shoegaze-only mode for the next 36 hours.
tony l  said
I saw them many years ago in Chicago with Yo La Tengo and Buffalo Tom as the opening acts. It was loud and amazing. Let's hope that the Concourse can get the sound right. The acoustics in there can be pretty bad.
Josh J  said
Should be nothing short of a spiritual orgasm
Roman M  said
Yay, so excited! I remember listening to loveless on a daily basis riding frozen russian buses, fuzzy vibrations kept me warm.
Charmmie P  said
let us all be droney together
Dan S  said
If I had any arms or balls left, I would sell them to go to this show.
Lanersg  said
Looking forward to this show.
Scotty  said
I will definitely be peeing my pants at this show, except now I'm not sure if it will be from the pure, unadulterated ecstasy of getting to see them play, or simply a response to being permanently deafened by the first guitar strum...
Arsie J  said
HUUUUUUUUUUGE bummer that it's at the concourse. I haven't seen a show there since in 7 years.. because i remember hating it so much the first time.
Brad K  said
Apparently, they've been crossing the 130db line at some of their shows and nearing the same loudness as standing next to a jet.
andi candy  said
hoorayy i am going to be there and really excited about it.
liiiiiiiisa  said
yay. my lifelong dreams are now fulfilled
Brad K  said
awesome Mogwai are playing somewhere in SF a few weeks prior. After that and this show, I'm fairly certain that October will be hard of hearing month
chris  said
in! anyone want to meet for a drink before and talk noise?
Nicky P  said
I think if you like them it's worth it just on general principal. Yes there is a chance of the show sucking on many levels but its been AGES since they've played and we've been teased too long. On the upside, even with the concourse's muddy sound we are still guaranteed a wall of sound....just not perhaps the wall we were looking for.
Conan Neutron  said
The venue is horrible and the tickets are preposterously too expensive, but screw everything, i'm going. I hope this isn't a mistake.
Veronica  said
Amy, you're not wrong, the venue is a big downer, but I got my tix. :)
Brad K  said

Veronica  said
oh Teddy G, you so crazy. :) I believe Mogwai IS the opener but I can't recall if I just dreamt that or if a certain someone told me that.
Teddy G  said
I'll believe this is happening when Debbie Googe pulls her cab up to the Concourse on September 30 and Kevin Shields hops out.
Roman M  said
Fiftybux uuuuggggh, the pain! But it's MBV... Gooosh, I still can't believe it...
nick  said
sweet zombie jesus!
Brad K  said
US $47.50 for tickets. I know Mogwai should be touring around that time, but that would make too much sense for them to open.
dp  said
omg omg omg (etc)

Awwww yeah. Since their "confirmed" appearance at Coachella was BS, I'm really damn excited they are coming to ME instead :)

Veronica  said
Tix onsale Sunday ... assuming this isn't the latest in a 16 year series of broken promises from Kevin Shields.
Teddy G  said
The god damn Concourse? Can we start a petition to have this place banned from hosting shows?
Erik S  said
on sale sunday (5/11) at 10am
Roman M  said
Holy shit, is this for real? Not a movie? Oh my oh my...
Brad K  said
The Concourse has terrible sound. Somehow, I think that MBV's loudness can overcome that.
Victoria  said
Ugh.
Cantsaynotohope  said
Why does it have to be at Concourse?! This place sucks.
